June has been an active month and surprisingly hasn't been slowed by the thunder storms. Scott Huff, Pam Thomas, Mark Chandler, and Honey Boy Pabonita Captured the fun scramble with an 83. The team of Mike Pabonita, Pete Njeru, and Michelle Gladieux along with Jim Joseph, Ryan Hoevel, and Clarence Tennis were a close second with 84. Gary Hinton, Mary Delarosa, and Jim Thomas captured last place money with an 87. The par threes were the key for that event. Club President Ben Beard capitalized on number 8, scoring his first ace from the ladies tees using his partners (Becky Whitman) club (as was required by fun scramble rules). Ben's Monday night partner Jim Szobody scored an ace on the same hole a few days earlier the more traditional way from the men's tees during Monday night league. Thanks guys for the drinks. Speaking of officer cup Clarence may be seeking to change his name from Tennis to Golf, as right now he does hold a good lead over Travis Whitman and Glen Ceckowski in the Officer Cup. There have been several good matches in the match play in both the scratch and handicap divisions. July may as well be match play month, as I am sure the matches will continue while July 12 - 13 the Match Play round robin will be held. For those who haven't had their fill of the match play it is the only event for the month and it will be a two day battle. Special thanks to all the members that participated in the Member - Guest, when there is a good turn out like we had, it makes the event even better. Also thanks to the many members that continually leave the course better than they found it fixing ball marks, replacing divots, picking up trash etc.. This is in the true spirit of the game.
